The author of this Web site, David Viniker, is a doctor and not a computer professional. In 2000, his manuscript for a "Frequently Asked Questions" book on health was completed and he elected to put it on the Web. Areputable Web site design company was recruited and asignificant fee was agreed.The work was planned to be completed within three months but, three months later, they had not started.

The professionals were going to use a program called Dreamweaver and the author had started reading around the subject so that in time he would be able to update the book. There were ten days with little clinical commitments and he thought he would enjoy learning a little about web design. In those ten days half the book was transferred into web pages and the site, with a thousand pages, was up and running in six weeks. Maintaining and promoting two Web sites has become a hobby.

As the site developed, books, magazines and the web itself were frequently consulted but many mistakes were made. Some of the mistakes were easily rectified but others took a considerable amount of time to correct. In retrospect, he had been using excellent sources but each specialised in only one area. Looking back he had not found a single  source that provided a practical and integrated overview of the whole process.

"Frequently Asked Questions On Women's Health" was submitted to the Search Engines and within six months was receiving a million hits each month and 10,000,000 hits per month after nine months:-

He has held postgraduate training posts at The Royal Postgraduate Teaching Hospital, Hammersmith, The Royal London Hospital, University College Hospital, and The Leicester Royal Infirmary. He is currently Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with special interests in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Whipps Cross University Hospital, London, Honorary Senior Lecturer in the University of London.
